In 1979, Dane Harman, designed and built a stove to heat his home. It heated so well that his neighbors asked him to build one for them too. Dane agreed, and was soon so overcome with an abundance of orders, that within a short time, he outgrew the garage and decided to build what is now known as the Harman Stove Company

Miles Industries was founded in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1977, its objective to build upon the Miles' family experience in retailing wood burning stoves. At the time, public concern about pollution was mounting and Garry and Martin Miles, saw an opportunity to market natural gas fireplaces. This led to discussions with Valor Heating Ltd., a recognized industry leader and major British fireplace manufacturer in business for more than 100 years.

Industrial Chimney Company was established in 1991 by a small group of partners with over 75 years combined experience in the chimney industry. Our experience convinced us that the needs of our ultimate customers (the people who live in a house with one of our chimneys) are served best when our products are sold by retailers who specialize in chimney and fireplaces.

Renaissance fireplaces are factory-assembled and ready for installation. Since their fireplaces are all considered zero clearance, they can be placed directly on a wood floor and pushed up against drywall. Installation happens over a matter days rather than the weeks required for brick and masonry fireplaces.

Osburn's were first sold to the public in 1979 and at that time they were manufactured in Victoria, British

Columbia, Canada. Today Osburn's are made in Quebec Canada.
